Expelled BJP MLA Yatnal Seeks Restrictions on Offering Namaz in Public Places

Representation of Namaz being offered in a public space in Karnataka

Expelled BJP MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal has written a letter to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah seeking restrictions on the offering of Namaz in public places. This development comes following a government order passed by the Karnataka Cabinet aimed at preventing ‘trespassing’ on public places by private institutions and organizations.

In his letter, Yatnal requested that Namaz prayers should not be allowed on roads, footpaths, and government premises without prior permission, citing concerns about public inconvenience and disruption. He emphasized the need for uniform enforcement of rules regarding the use of public spaces.

The government order mentioned aims to regulate activities in public spaces and restrict unauthorized use, reflecting the state’s focus on maintaining order in such areas.

This issue has emerged amid ongoing discussions related to the regulation of public spaces in the state.
